Gifty Teiko

In School

I am Gifty Teiko from Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region of Ghana. I graduated with a Higher Diploma in Health Statistics from Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) and currently offering BTech. Applied Health Statistics in the same institution. I am a self-motivated learner who has faith in myself. As someone who values peace, I strive to bring harmony wherever I go. As an aspirant, my life experience and observations have taught me to never pass up an opportunity to learn new things that will help me in the future. I like to use the few resources I have, including my knowledge, to help others. I enjoy giving back to the community. My greatest accomplishment has been persuading my study buddies not to drop the program they find difficult to study and assisting them to graduate with higher grades. After graduation, my goal is to be placed in a reputable company to improve my skills, and I intend to work hard to earn more money to establish an organization that will transcend the difficult environment I grew up in and positively impact the lives of others. As a low-income student, I am extremely grateful for the Eleos Cares Scholarship. I know that education is one of the forces powerful enough to provide me with the tools I need to overcome the difficult environment in which I grew up. Being awarded the scholarship has gone a long way toward relieving my financial burden, which causes me to lose focus while I do everything in my power to overcome it. I almost dropped out of school during my Higher Diploma education until Eleos stepped in to complete my fees even when I wasn’t part of the family yet. Now that I am a full member of the family, I will have a more positive attitude and devote more time to my courses, which are crucial to my future career. Being given this scholarship to pursue my degree in Applied Health Statistics, I will gain more knowledge that will enable me to better serve my community and the country as a whole. Thank you, Eleos Cares Foundation.
