Sidi Azzouz High School Rehabilitation

Sidi Azzouz High School is a public school located in Taza, Morocco. Taza is a fairly remote town in the High Atlas Mountains.

Project Background

Over the past several years, despite an increasing student population, the school has struggled to secure enough resources to maintain its educational and health services responsibilities. In 2022, the Eleos Cares Foundation began a partnership with Sidi Azzouz High School. The educational system in Morocco generally rates poorly; in 2020 it was ranked 130 out of 182 countries measured.

Project Benefits

Eleos allocated funds for the rehabilitation of the school facilities. The entire school was recently painted and much of the equipment is in the process of being repaired or replaced. This initial project has improved the morale of both teachers and students. The graduation rate at Sidi Azzouz went from 53% in 2020 to 62% in 2021 to 84% in 2022. A remarkable turnaround and a tribute to her dedicated faculty and student body.

Eleos' Contribution

Eleos allocated funds for the rehabilitation of the school facilities. The entire school was recently painted and much of the equipment is in the process of being repaired or replaced.

Next Phase

Eleos is determined to do what it can to improve the quality of education, especially in the underserved and underprivileged rural parts of Morocco. Our plan is to continue our support to achieving underprivileged students and making sure the school has the financial support to continue its success.
